Been over two weeks :(

I know it's been a long time since I have posted, but I have been out of commission since 2 weeks ago tomorrow.  I stretched after waking up that Wednesday and something in my back popped.  OUCH!!!  Well needless to say I haven't exercised besides the stretches the Chiropractor gave me.  I have been to see the Chiro about 5 times and I am alot better.  He seems to think I have a bulging disk at my L5 or S1 vertebrae.  He also said that about 75% of the population have bulging disks but don't have alot of pain unless they are having a flare up.  I am hoping to get back to exercising slowly in the next few days.... In the meantime I have some news......

I HAVE LOST 10 LBS!!!  WOOHOO!!

Measuring and Weighing Food

So a show of hands out there.... How many of us actually weigh or measure our food?  Or are you more of a scooper and dumper on the plate?? I will admit I am a member of the fill your plate club which is why I need to lose weight.  So I dug my food scale out and have been weighing a few things such as chicken and pork to stay somewhere between 4-6oz.  But here is the thing... today I was fixing a bowl of cereal (Golden Graham's) G's favorite, and looked at the box and a serving is only 31 grams.  That's not a lot considering the plastic bowl when empty weighs 20 grams!  But I still only had a serving of cereal whereas I could easily ate 2 or 3!  I have no idea what we are gonna have for supper tonight either.  Stay tuned for Supper!

Sunday sunday

So today was day 2 on the diet pills and day 3 of synthroid and the vitamins.  I cleaned the kitchen and living room!  Maybe my house will stay cleaner lol.  Ya'll who know me know i'm not much on cleaning though....

Anyways what I ate today was....
A grilled cheese sandwich for lunch
supper was 5 of those sister schubets mini rolls with the teeny little smokies in them with a mustard/m.whip sauce
supper #2 at work was so far a lean cuisine spaghetti and meatballs dinner with a 8oz coke.
I have a 100cal bag of popcorn and a pudding cup for a snack if I get hungry. 

I forgot to post yesterday that I did a 2 mile walk away the pounds video. I highly recommend those videos because you get a good workout fast.  It's not to hard on your knees and I am sore today even though when we walk outside we walk further and for a longer period of time I feel like I get a better workout with Leslie (the lady in the videos).

I also got a pedometer.  I finally wore it to work tonight.  I put it on right before I left and as of right now 1:53am I have walked a total of 3721 steps which equals 1.58 miles.  Thats alot of walking up and down my hallway don'tcha think?  Ya'll have a good night.  Back to work

food for thought

so I already posted on what I ate for lunch today.  6" turkey sub on honey oat bread from subway

I had a snack before starting work tonight consisting of a Nutri grain Bar and 20 Special K chips. BTW they are yummy and you get a lot for little calories. I drank 2 big glasses of water at work too.

So I worked a short shift tonight at work. After work tonight I had 5 chicken nuggets and a cheeseburger deluxe  from wendy's along with that famous honey mustard from O'Charley's.

And now I sit in bed drinking my ice water and G aka the hubs is eating a bowl of ice cream with caramel sauce that I do believe might be bigger than my head lol.  Good thing I am not to crazy about caramel :P

Slacker

Hi, my name is Katie and I am a slacker.....

Anyways onwards and forwards I suppose.. So I know its been over a week since I blogged and I am not gonna make any excuses.  I am not gonna make any excuses for the eating and non exercising I have been doing either.  So I figure, its a new day and I will just start over right?   

So I went to the doctor on Monday and had loads of bloodwork done.  Everything from a CBC(complete blood count) to a Protein S test (some members on dad's side have this).  Everything came back good even my A1C which I was worried about.  (3 month blood sugar test).  Well everything was good except my thyroid levels were off which I suspected.  The thyroid gland makes a hormone that helps with metabolism.  So mine is off on the sluggish side.  Can lead to hair loss(check), fatigue(check), weight gain(check).  So I am on a low dose of Synthroid 25mcg I will be retested in 2 months to see how my levels are.  The doc also perscribed me Phentermine which is an appetite suppressant and kinda like speed as well. I took these years ago and lost a lot of weight and kept it of 2 years after too.  So I started that today when I woke up.  I will admit I am a bit jittery and feel like I have butterflies in my stomach.  

So far today I have had a 6" turkey sub from Subway and a can of Mt Dew( caffeine could be leading to being jittery as well.  I am not a big caffeine drinker.)  Gonna go do a Walk away the Pounds dvd in a min since it is raining and I have a short night at work tonight so I don't know what supper will be. I do promise to do a better job of blogging as I know what I have to say is so riveting!

morning!

Morning out there ya'll!  I'm almost done with my 3 night stretch at work so tomorrow is gonna be a sweating day for me and the hubs.  I guess we better go before I go to the dentist, I can almost already hear the drill.... :( Guess we will do a walking video because I think it's gonna rain all day.  Anyways for todays eating adventure we had.......  Pizza

I was on a cooking strike cause my butt was just to tired to even think about cooking supper.  And "G" thinks he can't cook. So I sent him out to Pizza hut for pizza.  I had 2 pieces they were square with 2 breadsticks and I did have 12 oz of Mt Dew, as I needed that jolt of caffeine to get me going. 

Tonight at work I had a WW roast beef dinner which is pretty good if I ignore the sodium content of the thing.  I am finishing it off with some sliced up strawberries with a bit of sugar for sweetness.  Ya'll have a good day today!  TGIF :)

hump day

Well it's Wednesday, well technically it's Thursday right now.  I've got my nurses hat on tonight, my 2nd of 3 in a row.  So no sweating to report on besides the steps I take running up and down the hall.  Foodwise I do have something to talk about..... dum dum dum

I drank a glass of milk this morning before I died in bed no food.
Supper tonight was a 6oz pork chop with lots of spices grilled on my grill pan that I got at my wedding shower (love it btw)
1/2 mashed potatoes
1tbs of that famous honey mustard that I love

so I get to work and the residents have been baking today.... there were 2 brownies ICED!!! on a plate.  I prayed they would be gone when I got a bit slowed down, alas there was one left.  SO. I. ATE. IT.  It was yummy too.  Well on my not so diet, I am not gonna deprive myself, where as before I might have ate BOTH of those brownies, I only ate the one.   Supper tonight at work was a lean cuisine and some strawberries with 2 packets of sugar on them.  I got a pudding for later if I am hungry, which I have a feeling I will be.  What did you all eat today??

been a while

I know, I know I'm laaaazy.  Ya'll aint gotta tell me I will be the first to admit it.  Haven't blogged since last Wednesday, but haven't been eating to awful bad. I cant remember what we ate Thursday but Friday I made a pot of chili and we have ate on that until lunch on Monday.  I wouldn't think chili would be too awful my recipe is as follows
1lb lean ground beef (thought i would use beef since the hubs ain't all that fond of ground turkey)
4 14oz cans chili ready diced tomatoes
1 large can chili hot beans
1 container of brooks chili base
1 lb macaroni noodles
salt, pepper, chili powder, and cumin

not to bad right?
course I put a piece of cheese in mine and like to eat it with a pb&j sand, and technically I only had a sandwich 2 times.

Tonight I broke out my panini maker that I got for the wedding for supper.  I grilled a piece of chicken for the hubs and me and used 2 pieces of smoked provolone, some sundried tomato spread and panini'd it yummm I weighed the chicken and everything.  I made "J"s favorite potatoes, small potatoes with Lipton onion soup baked in the oven.

We sweated too, we walked 3 miles in 55minutes.  Not to shabby huh?

oh I forgot I had cereal this am well at noon when I woke up.  Now to shower and get ready for work.

Walking and Ice cream??

Well its been a few days since a post.  Didn't have much to talk about Sunday and Monday as I had my nurses hat on. We ate decent other than the Mexican we had for supper Monday night.  I didn't eat any breakfast and had a lean cuisine and apple at work so I am telling myself I did ok :)   Tues we went to our favorite park for more walking in the hills.  I could feel my butt toning as we walked!! Haha!  Seriously though, we walked for about an hour or so.  I know pimple loves that place.  We had Hardees for supper last night which I know was horrible I had a hot ham and cheese and an order of onion rings.  For lunch I had a turkey sandwich with 6 slices of turkey and 1tbs of miracle whip and 6 pringles and a banana.  Last night I was dying for something sweet so I made myself what my mom used to call silver dollar pancakes.  They are about 2 inches in diameter.  I measured out my syrup too and sprinkled some cinnamon on the 2 pancakes  yummmo.

Today I had 2 more pancakes with 1c milk.  I ate those about 1pm so I suppose that was brunch.  Supper tonight was one smoked sausage link called Better Cheddars ( I am thinking about getting some turkey ones and seeing if the hubs notices)  1/2 c mac and cheese, and 1/2 c applesauce.  We walked 2.8 miles in about 45 min, SHEW!!  Then we went to Baskin Robbins lol.  I had a kids scoop of the Daquiri Ice.  Its a lime sorbet with rum flavoring in the background.  1 scoop according to their website is 80 calories and 0 fat. Not to shabby especially considering I only ate 1/2 a scoop!!  GO ME! lol

So tomorrow it is calling for rain. I think G and I are going to break out the kinect and do some dance workout video game thingies.  This outa be interesting.  Maybe I will post a video or something.  :)

Workin 3 in a row

Well, I have decided that I can't as of this moment work out when I am working 3 in a row.  Spending 36 of 72 hours at the hospital takes alot out of a person.  So I have decided to do my workouts on the days I am off. That still has me working out 4 days a week.  I think that will be ok, don't you?  So today I didn't do a workout but still sorta ate decent, although we still have a couple of cupcakes from Sugar Buzz left.  I did eat one called simply white(its my fav white cake with a homemade buttercream frosting with sanding sugar on it).  For supper I made honey mustard chicken with rice and peas.  Now don't go thinking I got all fancy cooking on a work night cause you know I wouldn't do that. It was from hamburger helper but it was pretty tasty all the same.  So I had a cup of it, a 1/2c unsweetened applesauce and 1 slice of bread with about a cup of apple juice.

tonight at work I had 4oz of pork chop on a bun with 1tbs of honeymustard and about 20 cheetos.  I have an apple for later.  I have drank 2 8oz cans of coke here at work too.  I just needed a kick in the butt.  I am about to go fill my water cup up though and get on some sipping.

Eating and Sweating

Well not alot of sweating was happening today.  Hubs and I went for a walk but it was short lived as he was chilly and didn't take his jacket.  I promised myself I would do a 1mile video before work but once I got home I started cooking supper etc and before I knew it, it was time to take a bath and come to work. 

Today I ate
3 slices of turkey breast
hamburger bun
1tbs miracle whip
6 pringles
a banana
8oz apple juice

4oz grilled pork chop
1/2 cup stuffing with a couple tbs of gravy
roasted red potatoes with green beans in a rosemary sauce

Since we are always trying to keep it real here I had a cupcake from sugar buzz.  They are like heaven on earth. We were walking and I saw a lady with the pretty pink boxes they come in and told the hubs we had to get one to share.  Well we came out of there with 4 as they were buy 1 get 1 free.... I had an ebony and ivory which is white cake with homemade chocolate buttercream.... to die for!  tomorrow will have to do a 2 mile video to make up!

Blood Pressure

This is gonna be a short post.  I will post a eating sweating post later at work if I have time....

So yesterday I go to the gyn for a checkup, and of course what's the first thing that they do at any doctor's visit?  That's right... take your blood pressure.  Well I have always been a low 110/60 or so.  Yesterday's B/P was 140/86!!!  EEEK!!  So I know I definitely have to drop some weight.  I knew my health was being effected but to see the numbers on the monitor is a wake up call.   I have never really watched my sodium before but that will be another thing on the list to monitor now.

Who needs a gym?

So it's been a few days since I posted and I am sorry about that. Working night shift 2 days in a row with little sleep in between gets you, ya know?  So anyways, today I am gonna talk about joining a gym.  I have decided to not join a gym as "G" and I have been walking and such.  So Thursday "G" and I took Pimple to the park.  Now this park has special meaning to me, as I have been coming to this park since I was a little girl.  It is a block from my Granny's house and we would go there with her and my Papaw during the summer with whatever cousin was in town. Many a summer was spent on the swings and see saws.  There are also walking paths around the park. The 3 of us walked through the woods for an hour or so.  Up and down small hills trying to dodge mud puddles.  Pimple went for a swim in the swollen creek :).  It was a really nice workout that didn't feel to much like a workout.  So I say, who needs to pay the money out to join a gym??

OK... so I know I said in my first post that you never ask a lady her age or weight.  Well I know ya'll aint asking, I am offering it up.  I weighed myself at work tonight and I weigh 252 lbs.  That's right I said it. Out loud.  Well out loud with my inside voice anyways.  So if I weigh 252lbs and I want to weigh 160lbs that means I need to lose a whole heck of alot!  92lbs.... Thats a young teenager. WOW.  Well where do we go from here.  Guess I could start by posting eating and sweating for today.

Didn't have a whole lot of time or energy for sweating today but I did do a 1 mile Walk Away the Pounds dvd.  And I am at work running cause my unit is full.  Well I am not running right this second.  Things are calm for a few min.

Eating

Lunch - turkey breast sandwich with 1tbs Miracle Whip
            1 slice cheddar cheese
            8oz gingerale

Supper #1- 1/2c sloppy joes with turkey breast
                   1/2 mashed taters
                   1/2 unsweetened applesauce
Supper #2 I have to eat at work  same as Supper #1 without the applesauce.

Drinking lots of water too. 

What about ya'll?  Have anything good to eat?

Shopping the perimeter

How many of us really shop the perimeter of our grocery stores?  I will admit I buy lots of boxed meals for convience as I am lazy at home.  I work hard when I have my nurse hat on, but at home I am the queen of laziness.  Well yesterday after our walk, "G" and I ventured to our Walmart to pick up a few things.  I am pleased to admit that although I didn't buy much I did not go into any aisles in the interior of the store.  We shopped in the produce buying salad mix, red peppers, asparagus, grapes, bananas, and apples.  I shopped in the meat case buying chicken breast and ground turkey breast, and deli turkey breast slices.  I also bought some cheese for the hubs as he could live on cheese :P.  On tonight's menu is sloppy joes with ground turkey and mashed taters.  Tonight is back to work.  Gonna weigh myself at work tonight and maybe get enough nerve to post it here.  Just trying to keep things honest with myself and all ya'll out there....

Eating and Sweating

What I ate today....
Breakfast- 2 eggwhites on toast with 1tbs grape jam
                 1c milk

Snack- 1/2 banana (shared with the hubs)
            20 grapes

Supper- 6oz chicken breast
             salad with peas, red bell peppers, teeny bit of shredded cheese, 2tbs light ranch dressing
             probably about 20 asparagus spears
             3tbs of Tang ( so retro but I LOVE it!)
             1tbs of O'Charleys honey mustard (another yummmo)

So, according to Sparkpeople.com I am about through eating for the day even though I didn't technically have 3 meals today.  Hmmm.  They have me on 1200-1500 and this is about 1155.

How we sweated today....
"G" , Pimple(our dog), and I walked about 40 min.  I think we walked about 2 miles but the hubs says it was closer to 1.  I might drive it tonight after my short shift at work.  I am also considering buying a cheap pedometer to track steps especially at work.

Day 1

Ok here goes.  I'm not computer savvy so I hope this blog post isn't a flop......  This is just a test run on a post I suppose to see how it turns out.  So fingers crossed!


Today is Day 1.  I have been needing to drop alot of weight for a while now but I love food and being lazy to much.  My knees are demanding I do something now. "G" aka my hubs, did I mention I am a newlywed??  We got married on Feb 18 :).  anyways "G" wants to drop about 30lbs(he doesn't need to lose an ounce IMO) so we decided to do this together.  I won't tell you how much I need to lose as I am a lady.  2 things you never ask a lady, her age and her weight. :D

I'm not sure how I'm gonna do this blog.  Might make a seperate blog about meals and exercise kinda like a daily check in.  What do you think I should do out there?  I love feedback and advice too :)
